A new research states that the siesta can increase risk of mortality elderly women. At variance with previous research that found siesta may be able to provide benefits for the health, researchers from the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute says that it is white women who have routine siesta has likely experienced to the death of 44% with a variety of causes.
This is result of research conducted for more than 7 years of more than 8000 white women for 69 years old or more. According to researchers, it seems a little siesta is not a problem. The participants who have day sleeping less than 3 hours in a week do not indicate the increased risk of death.
Researchers added to the results of this research, the people should not correlate the sleep on the day with a bad health or prohibit seniors for siesta. They emphasized that the siesta habit is probably caused by a disruption to sleep at night or various medical problems. So, one way to reduce the risk of death is overcome the interference and improve the quality of sleep at night. I hope this article useful to caring for the elderly.
