Tips for Choosing Contact Lenses

Sunday 29 November 2009 @ 10:11 am

There are several types of contact lenses market and often difficult to choose the best for us. So in this post, I give few tips and recommendations when choosing contact lenses.

Soft Contact Lenses

The disposable soft contact lenses may be of four different types: everyday, weekly, biweekly, monthly and cosmetic.

For contact lenses with daily disposable, they can be in the eyes a maximum of 12 hours. Significantly, you can not sleep with these lenses on.

When used a lens a day, require no maintenance, you simply remove them and undone.

The advantage of daily disposable soft lenses is very comfortable. All you have to do with them is wearing it and undone by the end of the day. The disadvantage they have very high in cost.

For the weekly or biweekly disposable contact lenses, you can wear a straight week without having to remove them at night. At the end of the week or fortnight, depending on the lens, you should rest a day before starting the cycle again. Cheaper than daily disposables, these lenses are ideal for frequent travelers because they save having to take it off.

There are two types in case of contact lenses monthly disposable: those that can be used continuously for a month and that must be removed after ten hours of use. The latter should be cleaned and stored in containers and can be used to set the next morning for a month.

It is still cheaper than a month.

Conventional Soft Contact Lenses

These lenses can last up to two years if eyes are removed every ten hours. It is the cheapest option because of its duration and corrected all defects, even used for high rankings that fail to correct the disposable.

Semi-rigid contact lenses

The main thing is these lenses offer very good visual quality and has long lasting, plus allows the eye to be oxygenated.

What you have to keep in mind if you decide to semi-rigid lenses is that they require some adaptation. It is necessary polished lens every two years to keep them in good condition, which can last many years.

Disposable Contact lenses

Friday 9 October 2009 @ 11:40 am

The concept of “disposable” has consumers become familiar with the wide range of disposable products such as cameras and razors. The recent introduction of disposable contact lenses has aroused great interest and has disposable culture facilitated the rapid penetration of these on the market.

In most countries it has been recommended use of disposable contact lenses: this is that the patient had to insert the lenses and leave them in the eye to thirteen consecutive days. The lens then had to be removed on the last night and a fresh pair of lenses had to be inserted the following day and thus cycle continued. Using disposable contact lenses even at night had limited success before. It was anticipated that the replacement lenses regular reduce the incidence of complications returning the lenses to use at night safer.

Although there are many benefits of disposable contact lenses there is recent evidence of potential complications with this variety use of contact lenses. The International Committee on Contact Lenses (ICCL) considers it necessary to evaluate the recent clinical information and scientific relevance of disposable contact lenses and issue this document with recommendations and advice of the experts in the contact lens. This initiative is made for purpose of promoting safe and effective using disposable contact lenses.

Production of disposable contact lenses

The disposable contact lenses currently on the market are made hydrophilic polymers that are nontoxic, designed to have minimal physiological impact on the tissues of the eye. They are made of materials that appear in two categories of the Food and Drug Administration of United States (FDA). Materials Type I (low water content and nonionic properties in the area) and Type IV materials (high water content and ionic properties of the surface). These properties are important when interpreting the clinical activity of the disposable contact lens.

Disposable contact lenses are found in small packages that are delivered directly to the patient representing a shift in the traditional practice for the specialist all lenses examined before being placed in the eye. Thus the responsibility for providing significant defect-free glasses is transferred to the producer. New techniques have been developed and existing ones modified, to allow a large number of lenses are manufactured with good reproducibility. While some small defects have been reported, clinical significance is not understood completely, but these studies are needed.

Choose Eyeglasses Frames

Friday 28 August 2009 @ 3:10 pm

Choosing eyeglasses is obviously following his taste, fashion and above all, we can enhance her face and eyes, not to mention his personality. One thinks color and shape, more rarely matter. Yet the choice to adapt the eyeglasses frames to its style of life is vast. The evolution of knowledge of materials is crucial for designers of glasses: no progress, we can not imagine the current choice of shapes and colors, nor the resistance mounts sometimes so elastic that can sit on without breaking them. Not forgetting the lightness of the “crutches” so comfortable to wear they arouse envy in those whose sight has no need.
Acetate and its derivatives are plastics of plant origin - wood, cotton - still used alongside various synthetic resins. Flexible working, plastics have enabled the diversity of forms and gave their resistance glasses. Those who like to match their dress appreciate the wide range of colors and brightness offered by acetate. Manufacturers increasingly rely alloys in order to associate the qualities of different materials to enhance comfort or strength. Thus, the lightness of polyamides - from oil - coupled with the mechanical strength of Kevlar is particularly suited to the turbulent activity of children. This combination supports indeed shocks and deformations, without keeping any traces or breaking.

Good old metal

Despite these advantages, enthusiasts prefer discretion metal, competition from plastics since the Second World War but never surpassed. The opticians who use it for a century now offer with finishes as carefully as varied brushed silver or brilliant cut, color print. The clumsy and all those who hate feeling pressure on the nose landslide titanium. As strong as light, this material admirably resists the ravages of time, as it is the only truly stainless. Hypoallergenic, it is also perfect for sensitive skin.
In the large family of metal frames, aluminum is not without strengths. Its lightness, impermeability, stability and resistance hinder or color effects or to be interesting. As for stainless steel, it offers its lightness, toughness and great aesthetic potential for low budgets in choosing cheap glasses or those who like to change their glasses like socks! Although it is very strong and resistant to heat, intensive sports fans should avoid it because of its rigidity prevents particular absorb vibration.

Contents Exception

For glasses exceptional, creative use natural materials. There are still frames in horn or tortoise shell, often tailor-made and always from existing equipment as the Washington Convention regulates international trade in shells. Branches leather, maple, ebony, rosewood, together with a face of another material, give a sophisticated look with the glasses the most sober. Lover’s stones and precious metals can even buy some models, part jewelry and part art, adorned with rhinestones, crystals or diamonds. Moreover, this season, the stylish wealthy find something new at Channel, the bezel accented with feathers so haute couture or embroidered.

If you don’t want to use glasses, you can use contact lenses only. In order to health reason, do you feasible to use it?

Glasses can be an option to help your vision; some choose contact lenses, because they will be seen more comfortable and easy to use in daily activities rather than spectacles. However, before you decide to use contact lenses, there are several things that must be considered when using contact lenses for the first time.

The doctor also checks the water level of the eye and considering someone is a good candidate for contact lenses. This is necessary to be done because some people genetically have a dry eye condition. People have different eye physiologically. Doctor does not recommend using contact lenses that have extreme dry eyes.

Doctor recommends it would be better to use regularly contact lenses or daily disposable contact lenses for the beginner. Because we do not need the treatment just as a weekly contact lens, monthly, or even a year.

disposable lenses will give a positive experience for the user from the beginning. People who are using new contact lens each day have healthier eyes. The comfort level of disposable contact lens is also better than other contact lenses. Contact lens users should follow the main rules in using contact lenses. Whatever they use contact lenses, daily, weekly or monthly.

You should clean your contact lens with recommended liquid. The monthly contact lens usually cleaned by scrubbing with a liquid in one way direction. This can remove protein and fat attached to the lens. Then rinsed and soaked in the same contact lens solution/liquid for 10 - 15 minutes. I recommended you choose daily contact lenses for more practical. You don’t need any treatment; it can be removed immediately after you use it.

Progressive Addition Lens – The Most Fashionable Lens

Thursday 28 May 2009 @ 7:48 pm

progressive Addition Lens (PAL), which is known as progressive lenses, multifocal lens which is intended for those who have experience presbyopia. This type of lens is a development from bifocal and trifocal, which previously has become mainstay most of presbyopia.

As bifocal and trifocal lens, progressive lens also has a part to see far and near object. In addition, this lens also has a section called the local or regional aberration astigmatic (located on the right and left on the top of the lens), which may cause inconvenience, especially if the lenses are not appropriate. Therefore, glasses services need progressive knowledge and skills enough. This is different from bifocal lens and trifocal that does not have local or regional astigmatic aberration, so unmatched tolerance in the installation is high. Small error installation of bifocal lens is easily accepted by users.

Then, what the advantages provided by progressive lens as compensation on the part that does not make it? In the progressive lens, the part of long distance and least distance vision does not has extreme separate, so the firm emerged as the divider is shown in the bifocal lens and trifocal, but it is gradual separated. Separation on this area (called a progressive area) consists of several bowline made without the wrinkling line, a gradually curve increasing to the bottom (towards the near distance vision). The changes of gradually curve will produce dioptri power that also gradually changes, down to the more positive lens.

The result is, the progressive will provide a smooth transition of vision and sharpness when to see much closer view. This means by using this progressive lens, presbyopia patients will still be able to see a middle-distance area (between 5 to 0.5 meters from the eye) with a permanent clear. It’s different with the bifocal lens that only to be able to see far and near distance (30 - 40cm) only, while the middle distance will be relatively vague. If the lens is trifocal, it can be used to see the middle distance, but the sharpness of the maximum will only be available at the appropriate focus dioptri in the middle.

One thing the advantage of progressive lenses, you can not see dividing line between near vision and long distance vision of the lens, then it will be seen as a single focus lens, users have not yet seen as presbyopia (which is experienced at the age of 40).
