Migraines During Pregnancy May Increase Risk of Stroke

Sunday 15 November 2009 @ 3:35 pm

A study by Duke University Medical Center looked at the connection between migraines during pregnancy and an increased risk of heart attack or stroke.

Study the authors began by assuming that women with migraines tend to also have vascular disease. And if you are at risk on his part (migraines) or other (cardiovascular disease), then you should work to modify, control or reduce their risk factors while pregnant.

The study looked at pregnancy discharge data for nearly seventeen million American women over a period of four years (2000-2003). Of those seventeen million women, nearly thirty-four thousand women had been treated for migraines. After sorting the victims of migraine, the study authors looked at other health problems.

Here is what they found:

Women, who were treated for migraine during pregnancy nineteen times more likely to suffer a stroke than those who were not. Women, who were treated for migraine during pregnancy five times more likely to suffer a heart attack. Women who were treated for migraine during pregnancy likely to develop twice as heart disease, blood clots and other cardiovascular problems. The women age 35 and older at the time of delivery most likely would experience migraines while pregnant than younger mothers. Migraine with aura (in pregnant and no pregnant) is a risk factor for heart disease and stroke.

While there is a connection between the two of authors study are not sure that is a cause and effect type of connection. Migraines during pregnancy are a sure sign that you are heading for a heart attack, stroke, or other cardiovascular disease. Researchers expect to be informed about connecting people to take action to protect their hearts.

People with migraines should be treated as a manageable condition. Make life better today and prevent complications morning - just as you would with any chronic disease. Get treatment for your migraines. Manage your risk factors for heart disease and stroke (such as body weight and blood pressure).

Beautifully Balanced Life

Thursday 5 November 2009 @ 11:53 pm

Every moment of the day, we have the ability to create for us a fresh start and get in front of the new challenges that will help us achieve our potential, and understanding that everything is possible.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by negative thoughts, people and circumstances, but we can take steps to understand what it means to live a balanced life. Health and peace go hand in hand - you can not be fit without being physically in good shape mentally.

More and more people today are interested in becoming truly healthy - not just physically - but mentally and emotionally too. What follows are some tips for maintaining this personal care balance:

Exercise. A good exercise routine includes strength training, aerobic conditioning and flexibility. To succeed in obtaining a balance is necessary to make exercise a priority in your life. Being fit helps you enjoy life. Increases mental acuity and physical endurance. An energized body helps give a positive outlook on life, plus you’ll be good, you feel good, and increase antioxidants.

Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. Water helps transport vital nutrients, regulates body temperature, eases digestion, keeps joints flexible, clean your body and keeps skin care and young. Not drinking enough water leads to dehydration, resulting in headaches, fatigue, dizziness, constipation, and a very fuzzy memory

Not drinking enough water can lead to excess water weight, because our bodies begin to store water outside our cells. That is the reason why we might feel bloated and heavy. Water helps the liver to do its job more efficiently, ie the metabolism of fats. If you are not consuming enough water, your liver has to work overtime to fulfill its primary function: keep health and beauty.

Be afraid but do it anyway. Helen Keller once said: “Life is a series of adventure, or nothing.” All we wear that shield that protects us from some aspect of life. This shield is his comfort zone. And that comfort zone is a paradise for disintegration. When you remove the armor, the only risk that is growing, and have a wonderful life, high energy and a slimmer body.
